Bestiary
001 – Seedling
The seedling species, characterized by the rectangular flower adorning its head, is one of the most common species in the world.
They are tenacious and with a huge appetite, which they calm by devouring farmer's crops.
.
They can use the flower on their head to fly. Although it can be ripped out, it grows back within the week.
Vi: It's one of those stupid, annoying seedlings!
Vi: They're all over the outskirts, but don't even drop good items!
Vi: Let's just beat them up already!
Kabbu: Hm, it seems this land has seedlings as well.
Kabbu: Despite their adorable looks, they plague many fields and have no qualm devouring crops.
Kabbu: Although weak and puny in comparison to me...their flying variation is troublesome, as I can't reach it…
Kabbu: I'll have to ask Bee for help.
Leif: What a...cute creature. It's almost a shame that we must fight it.
Leif: Our basic ice magic cannot reach it while it is flying. We might have to resort to other means to bring them down.
Leif: Hmm...we are quite fond of it. Perhaps we could keep one as a pet?
Leif: Bee would have lots of fun taking care of it.
002 – Inichas
The inichas is a multilegged insect covered in sturdy, spiky armor.
It's in the early stages of its life, and is supposed to become a butterfly.
.
However, the strange atmosphere in Snakemouth Den altered it in weird ways: it will forever be a violent, irrational caterpillar.
Vi: What's up with this thing? It's like a spiky pillbug!
Vi: Its armor is really strong, so I can barely hurt it.
Vi: I bet Beetle can flip it over, though!
Kabbu: An inichas, this spiky bug is still in its larval stage.
Kabbu: Although it has impressive armor, it stands no chance against my horn!
Leif: This...thing is really annoying. Ice feels like it should pierce the armor, but it doesn't.
Leif: Beetle, flip this nuisance.
003 – Zombie Ant
Zombie ants are a popular folk tale, a story told to children to keep them from venturing into caves.
Disturbing reports have shown that Snakemouth Den seems to be inhabited with the real thing.
.
Caution is advised as a thorough investigation is held.
Vi: Eep! That ant is...possessed! No way!
Vi: That's just a story the Queen tells kids to scare them... this is too creepy!
Vi: I'm going to take it out!
Kabbu: By Venus... that ant walks after its passing! A "zombie ant"…
Kabbu: I truly believed they were nothing more than a myth.
Kabbu: It is my duty as a fellow explorer... to end its suffering!
Leif: Cordyceps. It seems it picked an ant as its host.
Leif: How weird, that it would attack us.
Leif: It's nothing special, our attacks should take it out quickly.
004 – Jellyshroom
Data on this species is anecdotal, as it's a new organism discovered by a trio of explorers in Snakemouth Den.
It camouflages itself as a regular mushroom, and attacks any nearby beings it feels threatened by.
Vi: Cripes, is that a flying mushroom?
Vi: This cave does some weird stuff to things…
Vi: I'll knock it out of the air!
Kabbu: By the queen...what an abomination.
Kabbu: I cannot hurt this beast while it is airborne.
Kabbu: Bee, would you lend me your strength?
Leif: Huh. Mushrooms get crazier by the day.
Leif: Although some of our skills could finish it quickly... Bee, save us some TP.
005 – Spider
The ender of journeys, this vicious spider made Snakemouth Den its hunting ground as it guarded an ancient artifact.
Seemingly immortal, it haunted the cave for countless years before being defeated by a trio of explorers.
.
Although it is now gone, the stories of bugs trapped in its web will haunt explorers forever.
Vi: This spider...just gets scarier the more I look at it.
Vi: But I'm not going to run away this time!
Vi: I'll knock it out from the sky whenever it climbs up its web.
Vi: Let's beat it up and get that treasure!
Kabbu: We meet again...you vicious affront to bugkind.
Kabbu: For all the suffering you've caused, I...no, WE will see to your end!
Kabbu: I'll rely on the others to knock the beast down when I can't reach it.
Kabbu: And use my skills to protect them from damage!
Leif: This may be unbecoming of us but...After so long, we're going to get revenge.
Leif: For all the time we spent on that cocoon...you will suffer tenfold!
Leif: As long as Bee keeps it knocked down, we will attack it without a hint of mercy!
006 – Numbnail
This one-eyed snail travels slowly across the Golden region. It was a popular hunting target due to the usefulness of its shell, and the good taste of its meat.
It developed sedative laser eyes to fend off its many predators. Thanks to this, they've mostly been left alone in recent times.
.
History books use it as the reference point for commodities becoming luxuries.
Vi: Ooh, a Numbnail! I hear Numbnail sedatives go for a lot of berries in the market.
Vi: I'll try to take some for myself when Beetle flips it out of the shell!
Kabbu: Oh, isn't this a Numbnail? I've read it is quite the endangered species! Perhaps we should flee and leave it alone.
Kabbu: But if we are left with no other choice, I will bring it out of its shell!
Kabbu: Take care with its numbing attacks!
Leif: What a hideous snail. It's all slimy and disgusting.
Leif: It's stubborn too, going into its shell when under our attacks.
Leif: Maybe Beetle can draw it out? Let's make sure to not be hit by their sedatives.
007 – Acornling
To protect themselves from the many predators in the Golden Hills, these Seedlings gave up their ability to fly for a hard outer shell.
This doesn't stop Acornlings from being attacked, but their survival rates have gone up massively.
Vi: Seriously? A seedling with a hat!?
Vi: My Beemerang can't pierce through...Beetle's gonna have to flip it!
Kabbu: What a sturdy little creature! Its appearance truly betrays its resilience!
Kabbu: But alas...it will be no match for my horn!
Leif: Honestly...Seedlings are way cuter. And less annoying to deal with, too.
Leif: Let's team up with Beetle and freeze it while it's flipped!
008 – Thief
These dragonfly thieves lurk within the lost sands. The buzz their wings produce while flying hinder their sneakiness, yet their Mug Tackle is 100% effective.
Voted the cutest members of the desert bandits, the other members make sure the dragonflies eat first during times of scarcity.
Vi: A thief!? There's nothing worse in the world!
Vi: The nerve to steal my hard earned treasure!
Vi: I'm gonna knock it out of the air and take everything it's stolen!
Kabbu: Darn! That flying thief keeps stealing my favorite snacks!
Kabbu: And I can't reach them at all…
Kabbu: Quick, team! We must defeat it before it uses it for itself!
Leif: How cute. We've never seen a flying thief before. It steals food before anything else.
Leif: Maybe if we give it enough of Beetle's snacks, it will join us?
Leif: ...Let's defeat it quickly.
009 – Bandit
These cricket bandits spark fear amongst all caravans traveling through the harsh desert. They are ruthless, efficient, and have no intent to negotiate.
They change completely when amongst their brethren. It is rumoured that they act like older siblings to the dragonflies, and even enjoy gardening.
Vi: Eep! I-It's a bandit! I'm not going to let it get near our bag. No way!
Vi: Maybe I'll just let Beetle take the hits while I throw my Beemerang at them.
Vi: W-Wait...what if they steal my Beemerang?
Vi: I hope I'm not worrying too much…
Kabbu: Hmph, a cricket bandit. It has been a long time since we encountered each other.
Kabbu: Be ready, you rascal. My strength is far greater than you remember!
Leif: So this is a bandit. Can't say we've seen one before.
Leif: As long as we deal with them quickly, we have nothing to fear.
Leif: Let's freeze it on its tracks.
010 – Zasp
One of the few wasps to be accepted into the Ant Kingdom, Zasp hunts for treasure like many other explorers.
His allegiances and motives are kept annoyingly under wraps!?
Vi: Hmph. So you really want to fight, Zasp?
Vi: Bet you think you'll win cuz you're all cool. And tall.
Vi: Prepare for a Beemerang to the face!
Kabbu: Zasp, we are fellow explorers...why must we fight!?
Kabbu: As much as it pains me, I won't let you get in our way!
Leif: We don't really know who you are, Zasp.
Leif: Unlike Bee and Beetle, we don't really care for you at all.
Leif: That's why we will freeze you without hesitation!
